Octonaut Glossary
A seamount is a mountain that rises from the ocean floor, but does not reach the surface of the water. (If it reached the surface of the water, it would be an island.) A seamount is usually an extinct volcano. There are thousands of seamounts in the oceans around the world, but very few of them have been explored.
